Pinhead Components Inc is a Canadian company which came up with a rather innovative lock system for bikes. The key is unlike most keys in that it a concave disc with pins protruding from it. You can swap your standard quick release skewers or seat post collar with a Pinhead lock and use the same key for all locks. You can also get a headset/fork lock and the "Bubble Lock" and they can all use the same key.

The Pinhead bicycle component lock system is a convenient, innovative, easy-to-use theft-deterrent device, which securely fastens the front wheel, back wheel, seat, and handlebars to the bicycle frame. This prevents theft of these components which is now commonplace and eliminates the necessity and inconvenience of repetitive removal of such components.
You can easily install the Pinhead lock and just as easily remove if for wheel or seat maintenance. It is sold as a separate component to complement bicycle security by providing protection for individual bicycle components. Pinhead locks can be installed on all bicycles, including those with no wheel release system, or on bicycles with existing quick release systems. The product is universal, functional, compact, durable, cost-efficient, and lightweight.
How the Pinhead Locking System Works
The Pinhead bicycle locking system locks your front wheel, rear wheel and seat to your bicycle frame. This prevents theft of these individual components, each of which can easily be removed from the bike, even when it is securely locked to a pole or storage rack with a U-lock.
The Pinhead locks are small, light-weight and extremely effective in preventing theft. They are installed on your bicycle and need not be removed. They remain on your bicycle when you ride.
The Pinhead wheel lock replaces standard quick-release devices, and provides one-time lock up for your wheels. The Pinhead wheel lock is locked and unlocked with your special key (11500 Combinations) only when you need to remove the wheel for maintenance.
The Pinhead seat lock replaces the standard seat clamp bolt, and provides one-time lock up for your seat post. The Pinhead seat lock is Locked and unlocked using the same special key which you use for the wheel lock which allows you to adjust your seat.
The Pinhead stem & forks lock replaces the standard headset hex-nut bolt, and provides one-time lock up for your entire front assembly of your bike. The Pinhead stem & forks lock is unlocked with your special key.
