Use of Agisko Natural Sports Nutritional Products

The sports person and their nutritional requirements.
Apart from eating a balanced diet many athletes find they need to take sports specific nutritional supplements and foods to help balance their nutritional equilibrium. It is not the scope of this document to explain the difference between the different products available, but to explain some of the nutritional features of  Agisko products and how they should be taken to ensure your maximum athletic performance.

Water & Agisko-Drink:-

In adults 70% of lean body weight is water, without it we would not exist!

H2O is the fundamental element of life itself.  Through the loss of water from your body your physical performance will suffer. Even a small loss of 1 or 2% of body weight through water loss will result in deterioration in physical performance. For a rider weighing 70kg that is less than 1.5 litres of fluid.

Agisko have formulated Agisko Drink to help re-hydrate the body before, during and after exercise. The drink is supplied at present in individual sachets of drink concentrate. Place the contents of each sachet in a 500ml drinking bottle and top up with water. Shake the contents and you are ready to go! Through the drink’s unique formula you find:

o Agisko-Drink has a great taste, leaving no bad aftertaste in the mouth; it is particularly refreshing when taken in hot weather.

The sugars added, in particular guava juice, help the assimilation of the water (H2O) element of the drink, and are not added to provide energy. Use:

All athletes are different and need different quantities of water during exercise.  As a rule of thumb cyclists should take;

o In cold conditions 500ml of Agisko-Drink should be consumed per hour. (Below 15c)
o
In average conditions (15c to 20c) 500ml to 750ml per hour should be consumed.
o
In warm conditions (20c to 28c) 750ml to 1000ml per hour should be consumed.
o
In hot conditions (28c+) 1000ml + per hour should be consumed.

Remember the sensation of being "thirsty" is a sign that your body is already de-hydrated.  If you feel this increase your intake of Agisko-Drink. Even in the winter regular intake of fluids helps to flush out waste products and toxins produced whilst exercising.

Energy-Fuel and Agisko Gel:-

Energy, the secret of success! Who crosses the line first at the end of the race wins!! To do so you need to ensure you have the vital fuel for success - "Glycogen"

We all know what happens if we run out of fuel in our cars, we stop! The same goes for athletes who run out of the fundamental fuel for exercise, glycogen. Everyone has heard of runners “hitting the wall” or cyclists “bonking”.  This “crisis” of energy should never happen, it is a sign of poor nutrition.

Ensuring we maintain our levels of stored glycogen is not easy, until now. Most sports people think that an energy drink is the easiest way to maintain their energy levels whilst exercising. This is not true.  If you add a sufficient quantity of sugars to water the “solution” becomes very hard for the body to digest, often leading to stomach cramps.

NO Sodium Benzoate (E211) a preservative used in many other competitors’ products.

Agisko-Gel is formulated to not alter your glycaemic index, and provide constant energy for up to 1hour. (No highs and lows in levels of energy, as found when taking foods and drinks such as Coke, chocolate bars etc..)

As they are natural you will find no side effects as with many chemically produced gels. Most importantly they taste GREAT!

Use:

Agisko Gel is available in individual sachets, or in a large flask, which you use to fill a smaller bottle (supplied with the flask) for use during your chosen sport. This smaller "bottle" will hold up to 4 sachets of gel. We recommend filling the flask 80% gel 20% water to make it a little easier to consume. (Even 70/30 in colder weather)

o At general exercise intensity levels one sachet or level from flask per hour. As intensity increases increase your intake of the gel. At high intensity up to 2 or 3 sachets or levels from flask per hour. (High intensity efforts being around 85 to 90% of maximum heart rate)
o
When using the small bottle it is easy to take the gel on the move or even “on the rivet” whilst racing!
o
Take one gel 30 minutes before the start of an event, then one straight after the event.
o Note:- Man cannot race on gel alone. Ensure you eat a carbohydrate meal within 20 minutes of finishing your exercise. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
